A female tiger cub was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh on Friday, as reported by a forest department official. The cub's body was discovered during a routine patrol, and it is suspected that the death resulted from an altercation.
Anupam Sahay, the area director of the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, confirmed the incident, stating that the team was alerted about the cub's death during their patrol. Upon receiving the information, the department promptly dispatched personnel to the site to initiate necessary actions as per the standard operating procedures (SOP). The preliminary cause of death is believed to be a possible conflict with another animal.
He further mentioned that once the incident was reported, senior officials were informed, and all required procedures were carried out in accordance with the directives from the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau and the National Tiger Conservation Authority. Sahay added that a detailed post-mortem examination was conducted in the presence of a qualified wildlife veterinarian after preparing the necessary documentation.
